COPY <br />6ETTLER-RYAN INC. <br />July 6, 2000 <br />Mr Marty Hartzell <br />California Regional Water Quality Control Board <br />3443 Routier Road, Suite A <br />Sacramento, California 95827 <br />Subject Schedule for Sampling the Interim Groundwater Extraction and Treatment System and <br />Vapor Extraction Sy stem at Former Chevron Station 49-5775, 301 West Kettleman Lane, <br />Lodi, California <br />Mr l-laitzell <br />As discussed at tine subject site on July 3, 2000, ) ou requested a schedule for sampling tine interim <br />Groundwater Extraction and Treatment System (GWETS) and the Vapor Extraction System (VES) As <br />required by Cleansip and Abatement Order No 5-00-704 the GWETS and VES were to be in operation by <br />July 3, 2000 On July 3, 2000, Mr Bob Cochran (Chevron Products Company), Mr Marty Hartzell <br />(California Regional Water Quality Control Board), Mr Harlin Knoll (San Joaquin County Public Health <br />. Services), Mr Gi eg A Gurss (Gettler-Ryan Inc ) and other Gettler-Ryan lnc employees were present at 2 00 <br />pm to verify that the GWETS and VES were operational <br />Groundwater is extracted from well EX -1 and pumped to a feed tank Water from the feed tank is then <br />pumped through three - 2,000 pound carbon vessels connected in series prior to discharge to the City's <br />industrial waste line As discussed, the initial sampling of tile GWETS is scheduled for July 5, 2000 at 10 00 <br />am The City of Lodi, Department of Public Works will have a representative onsite to witness this sampling <br />event Samples will be collected from the influent (prior to the I" carbon vessel), after the I" and 2' carbon <br />vessels, and the effluent (after the 311 carbon vessel) The water samples will be analyzed for total petroleum <br />hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) and <br />methanol by method 8015111/8020, TBA, D1PE, TAME, ETBE, MtBE, EDB, 1,2 -DCA, and ethanol by <br />method 8260 The GWETS will be sampled weekly on each Wednesday at 10 00 am forthe next 2 months <br />Sampling frequency after the initial 2 months may be altered depending on analytical results and <br />authorization from the City of Lodi <br />The VES consists of a catox with a blower which is currently extracting soil vapor from the four onsite vapor <br />extraction welis VW1 through VW4 We are scheduled to have the San Joaquin Unified Air Pollution <br />Control District inspection on Monday, July 10, 2000 at 10 00 am Per the Authority to Construct, influent <br />and effluent vapor samples will be collected and analyzed for TPHa/BTEX/MtBE by method 8015m/8020 <br />The VES will be monitored twice a month with influent and effluent samples collected monthly The <br />samples will be collected during the third week of each month <br />CII -9177N Rutudial SamplmgSch <br />346408 09 <br />6747 Sierra Court, Suite ,J Dublin, California 94568 (925) 551 -7555 <br />
