Frank C. Alegre Trucking, Inc.
Lodi, California
January 25, 1991 )
4. 1 . Generally, the lithology can be described as brown
silty clay and sand. Geologically, soil is a technical term
describing the earth materials
that
has- been modified or
altered by normal soil-forming processes of physical,
chemical and biological agents. The snil horizon extends
from the surface to the depth of unaltered parent materials.
It should be noted that in the hazardous materials
remediation trade, "soil" is commonly used as a nontechnical
term describing all earth material (both soil and
sediments) . By conventinr of the tradeā this report shall
use soil as the non-tec:ani.oal term to .include all earth
material, soil and sediment, unless specified otherwise.
4. 2.5. Soil Sample Analyses
A total of 33 soil samples were retrieved from the I
three borings . Field analysis indicat '`
Y ed a no detection (ND)
of contamination of all samples. As a 'result of the field
ND, only 3 soil samples, one sample taken from each boring
immediately above the water table, were'. submitted for
analysis. The results of Qhemieal analyses of the borings
are presented in Attachment 4.2. The chain of custody is
included as Attachment 4.3. The following is a table
summarizing the analytical data.
CHEMICAL ANALYSES OF SOILiSAMPLES
(reporting units: ugjkg)
SAMP..E TFH TPH
BORINGE
D FTH (GAS) BENZ TOL E BENZ XYL (DIESEL)
AM-1 45 ND ND ND ND ND ND
AM-2 40 ND ND ND ND ND ND
AM-3 40 ND ND ND ND ND ND
(for complete analytical report see Attachment 4.2) E
i
4.2.6. Well Installation
Ground water was encountered at a depth of t45' .
The borings were augered to a total depth of 55' . The ,
contractor installed 4-inch schedule 40IPVC casing in each
well with 10 feet of milled No. 20 slot''°° size from 55' to
45' , gravel packed with 10X20 Monterey sand and capped with
a bentonite and grout. Well installati'an is diagrammed on
the soil-sample description logs.
4. 2. 7 . Water Samnling
Water samlling was conducted by GeoAnalytical
Laboratories. Two rounds of well sampling occurred. The
first round was conducted on November 31,0, 1990 and the
second round of sampling was on .January,';; 2, 1991 . The
following is a table summarizing the analytical data.
GeoPlus Consulting Services
Page - 9
