ENEXCO CORPORATION
1  f
2.0 T i
HISTORY
,u On July 11, 1990, four underground storage tanks were removed from
an area east of the maintenance shop at the Alegre Trucking
property by Warren E. Gomes Excavating, Inc.., (Figure 2) . Three !
{
s 10,000-gallon tanks had contained diesel fuel and one 8,000-gallon
Ii tank had contained gasoline. The tanks were emptied on July 6, F
1990.. Two soil samples were taken, by Co:!ndor personnel, from
approximatel-i 2 feet beneath each tank, one at each end. The
samples were tested for total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons
(TEPH-Diesel) , total volatile petroleum hydrocarbons (TVPH-Gas) and I
benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and xylene (BTEX) .
Laboratory analysis of the soil samples indicated concentrations
exceeding laboratory detection limits of ''diesei and gasoline
i
constituents in the soil beneath the tanks. The highest
*, concentrations of contamination were reported coming from the
northwest portion of the excavation. Diesel and gasoline was
I,
t reported to be as high as 2000 mg/kg and ;250 mg/kg, respectively.
Varying levels of BTEX were also detected. Groundwater was not
14
encountered during the tank removal operation.
f
}
i
