CHEMICAL SPILL RESPONSE PLAN <br />UNKNOWN CHEMICAL <br />Here are the steps to follow when a spill occurs and the chemical can't be identified <br />due to an unlabeled container, etc. A 55 -gallon drum is used in these illustrations; <br />but these procedures pertain to any small or incidental chemical spill. . <br />Fe -1 <br />1. Report the spill to your supervisor or fellow workers and block off the area with safety cones, barricade tape or ropes. <br />2. Evacuate the area. <br />3. In case the spilled chemical is flammable, tw.M off and lock up all sources of ignition. <br />4. Use Qsorb socks, sandbags, pads or sawdust to protect any nearby drains if this can be done without exposure to the <br />O <br />Jchemical. <br />5. Call the local spill response team or fire department. They will help you identify the spilled chemical and test it for <br />flammability and or other health hazards. They will also recommend cleanup procedures. <br />6. Use Qsorb socks, sand bags, pads or sawdust to contain the spill. You may use an absorbent such as QSorb to clean up <br />the spill. <br />7. If the spill is toxic or flammable, the cleanup may need to be handled by a spill response team or experts recommended <br />by the fine department. <br />" <br />8. Follow established guidelines for reporting where and when to report the spill. <br />9.
