Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report
AD ART SIGN CORPORATION
3133 North Ad Art Road, Stockton, California
16- 1.4. INTRODUCTION
In accordance with the request of Mr. Paul Bischofberger of Ad Art Sign Corporation, Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared this Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report
(PIER) for the property located at 3133 North Ad Art Road, Stockton, California. The scope of work
included the advancement of three soil probe borings and collection and analysis of soil samples.
Background information for the site was summarized in UST Removal Report, dated 06 April 1999
and prepared by AGE. Ground water is currently approximately 50 feet below surface grade (bsg)
169 in monitoring wells located approximately 1,000 feet northwest of the subject property. The location
of the site and the immediately surrounding area are illustrated on Figure 1. The structures and soil
probe boring locations are depicted on Figure 2,
W
2.0. PROCEDURES
Field work was performed as proposed in the approved work plan Site Assessment Work Plan dated
03 January 2000 and prepared by AGE in accordance with San Joaquin County Public Health
+ Services - Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) and Central Valley Regional Water Quality
Control Board (CVRWQCB) guidelines for the investigation of underground storage tank (UST)
sites.
V
2.1. PROBING AND SAMPLING
On I I April 2000, three soil probe borings (probings) were advanced at the site using AGE's
Geoprobe 5400 soil probing unit equipped with 1.25-inch diameter probe rods and a 1.5-inch
diameter soil sampling assembly. Probings B 1, B2 and B3 were advanced to depths of 30 feet below
surface grade (bsg). The probe boring locations are shown on Figure 2.
Soil samples were collected at 5-foot intervals, beginning at a depth of 5 feet bsg, using the
Geoprobe soil sampling assembly loaded with four 1.125-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves. After
collection, the ends of the second brass sleeve were covered with Teflon sheets, capped and sealed
with tape. The sleeves were labeled and placed in a chilled container and selected samples were
transported under chain-of-custody to Alpha Analytical Laboratories, Inc. (AAL) in Ukiah,
California,a State of California Department of Health Services(DHS)-certified analytical laboratory.
All probe rods and sampling tools used for sample collection were thoroughly rinsed with clean
water after washing with a solution of Alconox between each sampling run. All probings were
backfilled over their entire depth with portland cement.
Adrarrced CeoLm-ironmental,Inc.
