10 May 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0460
479 ppm (10 feet bsg). Organic vapor was detected in two of the six samples collected from probing
B2 at a concentration of 1 ppb. Organic vapor was not detected in samples collected from boring B3.
3.2. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SAMPLES
TPH-g, TPH-d and TPH-mo were detected in soil collected at 10 feet bsg (sample B1-10) at
concentrations of 1,800 parts per million (ppm, reported as mg/kg), 3,800 ppm and 2,300 ppm,
respectively. Ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected in sample BI-10 at concentrations of 1.0 ppm
and 3.2 ppm, respectively. Other petroleum hydrocarbon compounds were not detected in soil
samples collected at the site, including the sample collected five feet below sample B1-10 (B1-15).
Fuel oxygenates were not detected in the six soil samples analyzed from the site.
Analytical results of soil samples are summarized on Table 1. The laboratory report(AAL Order No.
A00041219) and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix B.
4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
4.
Based upon data collected from the site, AGE concludes the following:
` • Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the sample collected from a depth of 10 feet in
probing B I. Hydrocarbons were not detected in the remaining samples analyzed from the
site.
• The vertical extent of hydrocarbon-impacted soil appears to be limited to less than 15 feet
below the former dispenser location. The lateral extent of impacted soil toward the west and
east is limited by probings P2 and P3.
• Primarily fine-grained soils were encountered at the site to the total depth explored. The
... lower permeability of these soils would retard the migrations of contaminants in soil from
reaching ground water.
The area over and around the former dispenser Iocation is paved with concrete and asphalt,
limiting infiltration of ground water.
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Due to the limited lateral and vertical extent of impacted soil beneath the former dispenser location,
` the depth to ground water and the fine-grained nature of the soil beneath the site, AGE recommends
no further action be required for the former UST and dispenser locations.
Adratrred CeuEriN-irvrnnental,Inc.
