Statewide Excavation TL 392-0001-15
June 24, 1992 Page 2
Location and depth of the soil samples were specified by Mr. Art
VanGelder of B. B. L. Environmental Services. The soil samples
were collected after a backhoe bucket removed soil from the
excavation. To obtain a soil sample from the backhoe bucket, a
clean brass sleeve was pushed into the soil. After collection of
soil, the ends of the brass sleeve was covered with Teflon® tape
and fitted with plastic caps. The brass sleeve was then labeled,
placed into a plastic bag, and immediately placed on blue ice for
shipment to Twining's state certified laboratory.
The groundwater sample was collected from the bottom of the
excavation. This sample was collected by lowering a precleaned,
Teflon® bailer into the excavation, allowing it to fill with water
and then transferring the water to a 1 liter amber glass jar. The
groundwater sample was labeled and handled in the same manner as
the soil samples.
The samples collected during this job were delivered to
Twining's facility in Fresno, California on June 15, 1992 . Chain-
of-custody documentation, and analytical laboratory reports are
attached.
TESTING PROCEDURES
The samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons-
diesel using the gas chromatography/flame ionization detection
method and for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes using U.
S. EPA method 5030/8020.
ftcwirtNtgVolntr.'ed.itc.
Fresno Modesto vtsatia 9akersfield
