This sample was
collected by lowering a precleaned, Teflon bailer into the
excavation, allowing it to fill with water and then transferring
the water to a 1 liter amber glass jar. The groundwater sample was
labeled and handled in the same manner as the soil samples .
In addition to the samples collected from the excavation,
three composite samples were collected from the stockpiled soils at
the site. These composite samples comprised four subsamples
collected at random from at least 6 inches below the surface of the
stockpiles.
The samples were delivered to Twining ' s facility in Fresno,
California on June 9 , 1992 , Chain-of-custody documentation,
analytical laboratory reports, and a site plan showing the soil
sample locations are attached.
TESTING PROCEDURES
' The soil samples collected from the excavation were analyzed
for total petroleum hydrocarbons-diesel using the gas
'
chromatography/flame ionization detection method and for benzene,
toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes using U. S. EPA method
5030/8020.
In addition, one of the composite soil samples was analyzed
for volatile halocarbons, total recoverable petroleum hydrocarbons,
reactivity, flammability, pH, and CAM-Metals (STLC) .
