Statewide Excavation TL 392-0001-15 <br /> June 24 , 1992 Page 2 <br /> s <br /> Location and depth of the soil samples were specified by Mr. Art <br /> VanGelder of B. B. L. Environmental Services. The soil samples <br /> were collected after a backhoe bucket removed soil from the <br /> excavation. To obtain a soil sample from the backhoe bucket, a <br /> ' clean brass sleeve was pushed into the soil. After collection of <br /> soil , the ends of the brass sleeve was covered with Teflon® tape <br /> and fitted with plastic caps. The brass sleeve was then labeled, <br /> placed into a plastic bag, and immediately placed on blue ice for <br /> shipment to Twining' s state certified laboratory. <br /> The groundwater sample was collected from the bottom of the <br /> excavation. This sample was collected by lowering a precleaned, <br /> TeflonO bailer into the excavation, allowing it to fill with water <br /> and then transferring the water to a 1 liter amber glass Zar. The <br /> groundwater sample was labeled and handled in the same manner as <br /> the soil samples. <br /> The samples collected during this Sob were delivered to <br /> Twining ' s facility in Fresno, California on June 15 , 1992 . Chain- <br /> of-custody documentation, and analytical laboratory reports are <br /> attached. <br /> TESTING PROCEDURES <br /> The samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons- <br /> diesel using the gas chromatography/flame ionizarion detection <br /> method and for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes using U. <br /> S.
