f
5
File No. 2070-2
19 September 1988
Rainbo Bakery, Stockton
WORKPLAN FOR CONTAMINATION INVESTIGATION
Anderson Geotechnical Consultants
September 1988
I. INTRODUCTION
I. Anderson Geotechnical Consultants has been retained by
Anheuser-Bus,71; to complete the investigation of soil and
groundwater contamination at the Rainbo Bakery, located at 2651
South Airport- Way in Stockton, California. The contamination
stems from a gasoline leak in one or both of two underground
tanks located on the subject site (which have been removed) . The
Purpose of the additional investigation discussed herein is to
address the concerns of Mr. Gordon Lee Boggs, of the California
Regional Water Quality Control Board (see below, section III) ,
i
II. HIS'T'ORY
2. Paragraphs :3-6 are based on the Contamination Assessment
Report for the subject site prepared by Environmental Science and
Engineering, Inc. (ESE report I,To. J-87-913-0100-1730, December
1987) .
3. The two underground gasoline storage tanks were located
approximately 50 feet south of the baking facility's main
building (see Site Plan - Figure 1) . The west tank was operable
through 1986. The east tank was decommissioned (date unknown) ,
filled with sand, and remained underground. In december of 1986",
precision tests indicated a possible leak it the west tank.
Based on inventory records, the volume of gasoline which escaped
was suspected to be small.
4. ..; The soil nearby the tanks was subsequently sampled and
chemically analyzed, Results of the analyses showed elevated
levels of miscellanecas hydrocarbons beneath beth tanks (to . a
depth of 28 feet) . The' tanks were subsequently emptied, removed,
and scrapped off-site, Contaminated soil surrounding the tanks
was also removed. The resulting excavation was backfilled with
clean, crushed rock and paved with asphalt.
r 11
