In•lormat_ion obtained from the San
Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District
( 1978, 1986) indicate ground water levels vary from 70 ft
below ground surface in the spring of 1978
years ) { follcwing two dry
to 35 ft subsurface in the spring of 1986 (an extremely
wet year ) .
A well located approximately 1 , 000 yards south of the site, at
the Cerri Feed Store, was drilled to a depth of 160
Of 1973. ft in June
At that time around water was encountered at 68 ft.
The 6 inch well was screened from 140 feet to 160 feet and
sealed to the surface (San Joaquin Local Health District,
personal communication) . The direction of regional ground
water flow also varies, but is generally to the east {San
Joaquin Flood Control Di
strict, ,spring, 1986 } in the vicinity
Of the facility.
3 . 3 SURFACE WATER
As shown in Figure 3-1 , surface waters in the area of the
r ..
Rainbo Baking Company facility are Duck Creek and Walker
Slough. Duck Creek runs south of the property and drains into
Walker Slough, which is approximately 1-1/4 miles to the
southwest of Rainbo facility. A tributary to Duck Creek runs
north-south, near the western boundary of the property and
similarly drains toward the south and Duck Creek. Another
drainageway, to the north, flows toward the northwest,
draining toward this north--south tributary. Topography in the
area indicates a general surface water flow direction trending `
3_?
4
