.� <br /> n <br /> i•. .. <br /> method has been accepted by the Regional Water Quality Control <br /> Beard for sampling and chemical analyses of soils at other <br /> locations in San Joaquin County. <br /> Soil samples were collected at 5 foot intervals, beginning at <br /> 5 feet, through a depth of 95 ft, with the sampler inserted <br /> hydraulically after drilling tool removal. [Upon retrieval, <br /> soil samples were described by an ESE field geologist for <br /> lithology and color. Prior to sample submission for chemical <br /> and physical analyses, scil samples were screened with a model <br /> HNu Fhotoionization detector (PID) to determine the presence <br /> of volatile organic compounds (VOCs ) . The PID was calibrated <br /> as per manufacturer': directions. Subsamples were then:. <br /> submitted at appropriate intervals for laboratory analyses, <br /> based er: recommendaticns of the ESE field geologist, and <br /> general "concordance with Anheuser-Busch ' s field <br /> r: <br /> representative. <br /> ;. The borehole was completed as a ground water moAitor well, as <br /> • s <br /> shown in Figure 4-2, and described in Table 4-1 . The 95 ft <br /> borehole was backfilled through a depth of 76 ft with <br /> bentonite prior to monitor well completion. Decisions, to <br /> screen discrete intervals were- based on an at•. empt tc <br /> intercept presumed water bearing strata at an ' <br /> interval <br /> coincident with highest P1L':" detector readings., Prior to <br /> sampling, the well was developed by purging five well plus <br /> drilling fluid volumes. Development water was periodically <br /> monitored for pH and electrical conductivity, and drummed <br /> onsite for ultimate disposal pending analytical rzsults. <br /> A grouid water sample was collected immediately after <br /> development.
