MIMI
EMN
An onsite geologist will visually inspect the drill cuttings
and split spoon samples during the boring operations to
prepare geologic logs of the soil borings. The geological
.logs of the soil borings will be prepared in an attempt to
identify the presence of any impermeable strata which may
. cause lateral movement of any contamination. The soil samples
3 "
will be screened for volatile organic compounds (VQC ) by using
a photoionization detector (PID) .
i
• Soil samples taken just above the ground water table as well
as selected samples showing positive PID readings will be .sent
, to a California certified laboratory for analysis for
.; extractable and volatile hydrocarbons. Previous soil sampling i
results for a depth of 28 feet indicate that benzene, toluene,
i.m
xylene, ethylene dibromide, and organic lead are below
required levels in soils, and are no longer of concern in
soils. Therefore, these parameters will not be analyzed in
i
the soil samples.
The monitor wells will be developed, purged of three well {
volumes, and sampled. The ground water samples will be sent
- to the lab for analysis for total petroleum hydrocarbons,
benzene, toluene, xylene and lead. Any remaining drill
. txr
cuttings will be retained on site until lab analyses are
completed. If allowed by San Joaquin APCD, the drill cuttings
E will be spread in a thin layer on the ground onsite to enhance
tw
volatilization and biodegradation of contaminants. If not
!' allowed by San Joaquin APCD, the drill cuttings will be
In disposed of in an approved disposal facility. The results of
. both soil and water analyses will be reported to the San
Joaquin Local Health District and the California Water Quality
Control Board (WQCB ) .
5W4 .'
