As I mentioned on the phone, PSC and
Sara Lee are anxious to close the data gaps and finish the FS/RE at Airport Way. We believe the data gaps (one deep well in
the source area for vertical extent and an evaluation of the potential for soil vapor intrusion ) should be assessed prior to
completion of the FS/RE. Therefore, we would like to submit a brief workplan for well installation and the evaluation for
potential vapor intrusion within the next few weeks.
We have preliminary plans to install a well near CPT -M5 with a screen interval of 120 to 130 feet depending on observed
lithology. We will be using mud rotary drilling so that we can sample soil and check for lithology while sealing off the
permeable zone encountered between 48 and 70 feet bgs. We feel that this will provide best data on deep lithology and will
help to install a good well to provide the most discrete samples. Details of the drilling and well installation as well as the
evaluation on the need to collect soil gas samples for the soil vapor intrusion survey will be presented in the work plari'in the
next couple of weeks.
In order to avoid comments and response to the work plan, we would appreciate your and Nuel's feedback on this preliminary
approach. If you have questions you may call me on my cell phone listed below.
Thank you again.
John R.
