N0.. --N
.r ./
Mr. John DeSelm
Anheuser Busch Companies
One Busch Place
St. Louis, MO 63118
29 March 1989
PROBLEM ASSESSMENT WORK PLAN FOR RAINBO BAKERY, 2651 SOUTH AIRPORT WAY,
STOCKTON, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
Thunk „u for submitting the 19 September 1988 work plan for our review. We
have discussed the work plan with the San Joaquin Local Health District
;5a'HC4 and we agree it is acceptable, All necessary permits to conduct this
u are to be obtained from the appropriate local agencies,
lave the following comments and recommendations which are to be addressed
_1 the proposed work is conducted:
Water samples are to be collected from all the monitoring wells
'including monitoring wells MW#2 and MW#3) for BTX&E and TPH analyses.
-e continuously cored boreholes are to be sampled for laboratory
ralysis every 5 -foot interval or change in lithology using a 1.5 -foot
'u1g >Plit—spoon sampler. These undisturbed soil samples are to be
co " ected after each 5 -feet of continuous core has been retrieved. We
do not recommend collecting and transferring soil samples to glass jars
for laboratory analysis from the continuous core, as proposed in the
,ork plan, because the soil will be agitated and volatile hydrocarbons
ost.
3. All ground water and soil sample data are to be presented in tables
within the text of the Problem Assessment Report (PAR).
4. The 11thologic logs for all monitoring wells and borings at this site
are to be included in the PAR.
Upon completion of this proposed work, assuming that the ground water plume
has been adequately defined, a complete and comprehensive PAR is to be
completed and submitted to us and the SJLHD within six (6) weeks of receiving
the laboratory results, but no later than 15 June 1989. If the ground water
plume is not defined upon the completion of this work, additional
investigative work will be required and a work plan is to be completed and
submitted to us and the SJLHD within three (3) weeks of receiving the
laboratory results. This work plan could be a letter explaining your
continuing work and an attached site ma- showing the additional wells or
boring locations.
If you have any questions, pleas- c.-11 me at (916) 361-5725.
EDWARD W.
