Airport Way
Stockton, CA
On April 9, 1987 soil contamination was reported at a depth of 28 feet in the tank
excavation. The depth of the water table in this area is reported to be less.than
40 feet. Therefore soil contamination at this depth would indicate a potential im-
pact on the groundwater quality.
In order to determine any impact on groundwater quality the following site assess-
ment procedures shall be required:
I. Submit a revised work plan showing all required monitoring well
locations. A minimum of three monitoring wells shall be located
in areas that will determine the groundwater gradient and identify
all groundwater contamination.
Z. Work plan approval, permits and inspection shall be required for
the construction or destruction of all soil borings and ground-
water monitoring wells.
The above procedures shall be required in order to verify that groundwater quality has
not been impacted by the leaking underground storage tanks. Additional soil and ground-
water investigations may be required depending upon the results of the above preliminary
assessment.
Your company may choose to proceed with'a soil investigation prior to the required
assessment outlined above; however, this acquired information will not replace the
required groundwater investigation.
If you have any questions -regarding this matter, contact Laurie Cotulla, Senior Sanitarian,
Of my staff at (209) 466-6781, extension 56.
Jogi Khanna, M.D., M.P.H.
Dis -ie Healt Officer
Ron L L Va inoti Acting Director
Environmental Health Division
cc: Fred McPherson
Russell Bowen
David Brent
