1- 1.0 INTRODUCTION
On behalf of PSC Environmental Services (PSC), ETIC Engineering, Inc. (ETIC) has prepared
'-' this Site Conceptual Model and Work Plan for Remedial Investigation for the Earthgrains
Baking Companies, Inc. (Earthgrains) site located at 2651 South Airport Way (the Site) in
Stockton, California (Figure 1). This work plan has been prepared in accordance with the
L recommendations presented in the ETIC Soil and Groundwater Quality Investigation Report,
which was submitted to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD)
on February 15, 2007 (ETIC, 2007a). The SJCEHD concurred with the recommendations
presented in the report in their June 21, 2007 letter, which is included in Appendix A.
- The objective of the work proposed is to further investigate the vertical and lateral extent of
petroleum hydrocarbon impact to groundwater in the vicinity of the two former 6,000 -gallon
gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) located in the southern portion of the Site. To
` achieve this objective, ETIC proposes the following activities:
V
• Drill four cone penetrometer test (CPT) borings and sample Hydropunch borings drilled
adjacent to the CPT locations for the collection of samples and vertical delineation of
the extent of impact in groundwater and for the collection of select samples from the
vadose zone for the lateral delineation of the extent of impact in soil;
6.
L
• Compile and evaluate CPT and laboratory analytical data; and
• Prepare and submit an investigation report and revised site conceptual model.
2.0 SITE BACKGROUND
L' 2.1 DESCRIPTION OF THE SITE AND VICINITY
The Site is located at 2651 South Airport Way in Stockton, California (Figure 1). The plant
L
straddles Sections 22 and 23 of Township 1 North, Range 6 East of the Mount Diablo Baseline
and Meridian. The Earthgrains facility is a bakery products plant formerly known as the Rainbo
Baking Company.
The developed portion of the Site consists of approximately seven acres of land, which is
- relatively flat and primarily covered with asphalt and concrete. The main facility building
covers approximately two acres (Figure 2). Several shallow (less than three feet below ground
surface [BGS]) water lines, electrical lines, and storm water sewer lines transect the property.
2.2 REGIONAL GEOLOGY AND HYDROGEOLOGY
V
The Earthgrains facility is situated in the Great Valley geomorphic province, which is bounded
L
SL_AIR SCM and RI WP 1
6.
