2 OCTOBER 2000 GROUNDWATER MONITORING <br /> Philip's groundwater monitoring procedures and findings are contained in this <br /> section <br /> 2.1 Groundwater Monitoring Procedures <br /> A geologist from Kleinfelder (Philip's subcontractor), of Sacramento, <br /> California, performed groundwater monitoring on October 18 and 19, 2000 <br /> Groundwater samples were collected from monitoring wells MW-1, MW-4, <br /> MW-9, MW-10, MW-12, and MW-13 as directed by Ms Carol Oz with the <br /> PHS/EHD Groundwater samples were also collected from sparge wells SP-1 <br /> and SP-2, and from piezometers PZ-1 and PZ-2 <br /> Prior to sample collection, Kleinfelder's geologist measured groundwater <br /> levels in these wells, and the potential presence of free phase gasoline product <br /> with an electronic oil/water interface probe Free phase gasoline product has <br /> never been observed in any well <br />' Kleinfelder's geologist purged a minimum of three well volumes of <br /> groundwater from each well into 55-gallon drums using a downhole pump and <br /> clean, dedicated tubing Field parameters pH, temperature, and electrical <br /> conductivity were monitored for stability The 55-gallon drums were <br /> temporarily stored on-site, then removed and transported to Philip's Iicensed, <br />' California waste disposal facility <br /> Groundwater samples were collected with clean, disposable bailers, and <br />' transferred into clean laboratory-provided containers Sample containers were <br /> sealed, labeled, and stored on ice for subsequent delivery to the analytical <br /> laboratory <br />' Samples were delivered, with chain-of-custody control, to Acculabs Inc in <br /> Davis California Samples were analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, <br /> I xylenes (BTEX), and total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G) using <br /> EPA Method 602/8015(modified) These samples were also analyzed for <br /> oxygenate compounds TBA, MTBE, DIPE, ETBE, and TAME using EPA <br /> Method 8260 <br /> 1 <br /> 7 <br /> October 2000 <br /> Groundwater Monitoring Report <br /> The Earthgrams Company <br /> 2651 South Airport Way <br /> Stockton,California <br /> Prepared for THE EARTHGRAINS COMPANY Prepared by Philip Services Corp <br /> H\ENV\62400132\12I362EGV,Sto4ton\.SweMon\1000mon doc November 10 2000 <br />
