EXHIBIT 1.
BP Amoco Chemical Company ("BP") is working with the California EPA, Regional
Water Quality Control Board ("RWQCB") in a remediation program related to
groundwater contamination associated with the property located at the Applied
Aerospace Structures Corporation, 3437 South Airport Way, Stockton CA ("Facility").
Chemicals that have been historically used at the Facility have migrated into the
groundwater. BP has been working with the RWQCB in remediating the groundwater.
As part of BP's remedial activities, the RWQCB has asked BP to install a monitoring
well in the property known as Assessor's Parcel. No. 177-020-27-004 ("Property"). to
determine whether, chemicals from the Facility may be present beneath the Property.
BP or its consultant will. install a groundwater monitoring well and collect groundwater
samples from the well on a routine basis as requested by the RWQCB. In general, the
samples will be collected on a quarterly basis throughout the year. The work plan to
install and collect groundwater samples has been approved by the RWQCB (a copy of the
work plan will be provided. at your request). The monitoring well design and installation
will follow California EPA guidance. The 2-inch. diameter well will be installed to a
depth of approximately 60 to 70 feet below ground surface using a hollow stem auger.
At the surface, the well will be inside a locked pipe mounted in a 4-ft by 4-ft. by 4-inches
thick concrete pad.. The pipe will extend approximately 30 inches above the ground.
surface.
The proposed location of the monitoring well, which has been approved by the RWQCB,
is shown on the attached map.
As part of its work, BP will. manage and properly dispose of all. waste generated. during
BP's well installation and subsequent groundwater sampling events. Once the
monitoring well is no longer required, it will be removed and the surface restored.
G.-1HSP_1G=SOCK\nGRRJ:-'MR.NTS\R101.1T OF ENTRY-Buu.
