Pis Engineering Science, Inc.
SECTION 1
INTRODUCTION
SCOPE OF WORK
This work plan addendum describes the objectives, tasks, and methods for additional
remedial investigations at the Applied Aerospace Structures Corporation (AASC) site,
Stockton, California. Quality control procedures, health and safety requirements, and site
background information are discussed in the Work Plan for Phase II Remedial Investigation
(Parsons ES, February 5, 1997).
' The scope of work addresses one of four actions that were recommended in the Phase II
Remedial Investigation report (Parsons ES, May 1997) and informally approved by the
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board. The principal objective of the present
work is to determine the lateral and vertical extent of chlorinated solvent contamination in
groundwater in the northeast corner of the property. Site investigations will be conducted by
hydraulic push method using a cone penetrometer test (CPT) rig to collect groundwater
samples and gain further information on subsurface stratigraphy and soil properties.
Recommendations for further action at the northeast corner of the property will be developed
and presented in a project report.
PROPOSED WORK SCHEDULE
The additional groundwater site investigation work is planned to begin in mid-January 1998.
The schedule is predicated on regulatory agency acceptance and drilling subcontractor
availability. We plan to complete a draft report in mid-February 1998, approximately three
weeks after receipt of laboratory data packages.
SITE LOCATION
The AASC site is located at 3437 South Airport Way, Stockton, San Joaquin County,
California. Figure 1 shows the general site location. The parcel is bounded on the north and
west by undeveloped land, and to the east by South Airport Way. The property east of South
Airport Way is an older residential development. The adjacent property to the south was
' formerly a part of the same facility. It is now leased to AASC. More detailed discussions of
site history are given in the first phase Remedial Investigation (RI) work plan (Parsons ES,
June 21, 1996) and in Section 1.4 of the first RI report(Parsons ES,November 1996).
0997\09072\wks2add 12-1 B-97 1—1
