Airport Way
Stockton, CA 9S206
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD) has recently reviewed the analytical results
of the it samples taken from beneath the underground storage
tanks that were removed from this site during the periods of
1987-1990.
Although the laboratory results from each tank removal indicated
no detection of volatile organic hydrocarbons, the detection
limits cannot be applied to current standards. (see chart below)
Current standards, laboratory detection limits, and/ the site
specific characteristics (i.e. depth to seasonal high
groundwater, nearby wells, septic systems) make it impossible for
PHS/EHD to evaluate these tanks for closure.
According to the Leaking Underground Fuel Tank (LUFT) field
manual (February 1989) detection limits for soil analysis are
.005 ppm for volatile hydrocarbons and 10.0 ppm, for total
petroleum hydrocarbon.
If site closure certification is necessary, PHS/EHD would not be
able to provide it without further investigation of the 8
underground storage tank removal sites listed below. However,
pus/mm is not, at this time, requesting further investigation of
these specific tank locations.
121_7-88 9-Mr-r-e-n-t—ILLY-F-21
Benzene .2 ppm . 005 ppm
Toluene .2 prim, .005 ppm
Xylene .2 PPM .015 PPM
A Dhision of San Joaquin Counry ficalth Care Scroces 10
