}
FIELD WORK PERFORMED
INTRODUCTION }
The first two Hunter & Associates Reports, which are
' attached, are entitled (1 ) SITE ASSESSMENT REPORT and (2)
WORK PLAN AND ADDENDUM TO: SITE ASSESSMENT REPORT. The work
described herein is that proposed in the "Work Plan and
Addendum To: Site Assessment Report''`' with several small
' alterations to fit changing conditions .
FIELD WORK
i
E
On March 3 and 4, 1991 , three monitor wells were drilled at
the Russell-Carlson site with locations 'as shown on Figure 1
of this report. This map and locations of surface features,
as well as locations of the three monitor wells, are
approximate and are based on property maps used in previous
{ reports and roughly measured distances . "They are believed to
be reasonably correct and entirelyladequate for purposes of
this hydrogeologic investigati-on.
Monitor Wells # ' s 1 and 3 are located approximately as
proposed on Figure 4 of report # 2 as listed above. Monitor
Well # 2 was moved slightly westward and across the block
wall fence from the original suggested location. It is still
within about 10 ' of the removed tank location and down-dip
with relationship to the regional waterctable gradient. This
location is shown on Figure 1 of this report. This well was
relocated at the suggestion of the EHD to W.J. Hunter (WJH
hereafter) . Those in attendance ati-various times during the
drilling operations were : Margaret Russell , Principal ;
Richard Thorpe, Thorpe Oil Inc . , Contractor; W. J. Hunter
and Dennis R. Allen, WJH & Assocs . ; Harlan Knoll , EHD: and
Van Leonard, Driller, Spectrum Exploration Co. Mr. Leonard
drilled all three wells ..
General Description of Drilling Operations
The wells were drilled using 10" OD; nominal size, 6 1/4 ID,
hollow stem augers with California Split Spoon samplers .
Owing to the shallow depth of the wells 'jand the close
proximity of the Spectrum offices, separate augers, flights,
samplers and Other equipment were used on each hole,
negating the need to wash equipmentipbet;ieen holes .
All cuttings from boring operations were collected and
placed in 55 gallon drums with sealing lids and were
temporarily stored on site . Thorpe Oil Inc . would have
'. handled disposal of the spoil if results of the testing
showed contamination. Because all testsi both of soil and
/ water, showed no contamination, both the spoil and water
d collected from bailing and testingweredisposed of by
dumping.
3
