3 4
I u .
f '
L
j gravel now from bottom to -4 1/21 , 1/2 ' above the
perforations . A bentonite clay pellet seal was placed from
-4 1/2 ' to -3 ' and cement grout with a 3% bentonite mix
from -3 ' to surface . I=
3
The auger rig was then moved to location # 1 .
At a later time the same day, a Diversified Well Products
Vault was place around the well head and cemented in place
by hand. A Morrison expandable, locking, test well cap was
} placed in the well head. The well Aultltop is approximately
flush with the surface and has a metal cover that requires a
hollow head Allen wrench to open. Ii
ii
Monitor Well # 1
The auger rig was located at MW # 111, site at 1 : PM, April 4,
1991 . The surface was cleared of grass and a hole bored to
' -5 ' where a core was taken, along'l: with a duplicate sample .
The second sample was taken at -101iand -11 ' . Ground water
was found at --12 ' and no more samples were taken. The hole
was bored to -22 ' for a penetration;lof 10' into the water
table. Cuttings and water were disposed of as noted above
for MW # 3 .
1
The soils are described as follows ) Surface to -51 , silty,
sandy loam, probable fill material'; - 5 ' to- 10 1/21 ,
brown, silty sand and fine to -mediun sand, some coarse sand;
-10 1/2 ' to -221 , well graded sands'Iwith a size increase to
coarse at about -151 . The casing string was made up to go to
bottom at --22 ' but continually pulled up while swabbing. The
casing string was pulled and the hole was deepened to -25,
in an effort to create a bottom sump for the loose sand that
was continually falling into the hole. The pipe was then
placed in the well with the bottom at -221 . The perforated
interval was gravel packed and the well ' was swabbed for
about 30 minutes as described for MW. # 3 . Additional gravel
was added to bring the pack up above the perforations. Two
feet of bentonite pellets were placed above the gravel .
Figure 3 shows the well completion and stratigraphy; Figure
5 shows the stratigraphic relationship of the three wells .
The casing size etc . is the same inall.. three wells . From
bottom up, Slip-on well cap at -2211}, perforations from -22 '
to -111 , gravel pack from -22 ' to -10 bentonite from -10
to -81 , cement grout with 3 % bentonite from -8 ' to -1 ' .
The well was capped at the surface 'with`' a vault and locking
well cap as described for MW # 3 . '1
Monitor Well i# 2
I
This well was bored on April 5, 1991 , rig on site at 8: 30
AN. This hole was located just west' of the concrete block
wall shown on the site diagrams, in'' a landscaping ring.
5
. 1 {
