Results from the November 2000 sampling show that detectable
concentrations of the constituents of concern are present in five of the eight monitoring wells.
Monitoring well MW-7 contained the highest concentration of benzene at 610 pg/l and of total
petroleum hydrocarbons in the gasoline and diesel range at 5,200 and 3,100 µg11, respectively.
We have the following comment on this document.
Injection of an oxygen releasing compound (ORC) in August 1998 had a marked effect on
reducing the contaminant concentrations at this site. PG&E should consider an additional ORC
application. PG&E previously verbally proposed monitored natural attenuation (MNA) as a
remedial measure at this site but has not prepared a remedial action plan. Based on the current
data, MNA is not reducing contaminant concentrations in the groundwater. Therefore, an
alternate remedial strategy is needed.
By 30 April 2001, please submit a feasibility study report, prepared in general accordance with
the enclosed Items to he Included in a Feasibility StudytRemedial Options Evaluation Report.
If you have any questions, you may call me at (916) 255-3082.
,de.
)—
YMASERRA
Site Cleanup Unit
Enclosure
cc: Mr. Jeffery C.
