The purpose of
this preliminary investigation is to assess the presence or absence of petroleum hydrocarbons in the
subsurface soils at the site. The investigation was requested by PG&E's Gas Services and Operations
Department and was coordinated with San Joaquin County Public Health Services Department,
Environmental Health Division (SJCPHSD). All work described in this report was performed as proposed
in the TES work plan entitled "Work Plan, Preliminary Site Investigation of Subsurface Soils, PG&E
McMullin Gas Dehydrator Station," dated September 24, 1992.
The scope of work for this study included advancing and sampling 9 soil borings located within the site
boundaries and on properties adjacent to the site, chemical analyses of selected soil samples and water
samples collected from a nearby water supply well, a review of available public records maintained by the
State Department of Water Resources to identify groundwater wells within a one -mile radius of the site, a
review of available geologic literature, and the preparation of this report.
cca08/23/93(9660a.doc/cp43) 1-I
