r <br />NATIONAL ADVERTISING COi1PANY — ADDITIONAL SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION HEALTH AND $AF'F.T1''PLA1 <br />I. When not in use, drums/containers wil I be covered with a tight fitting lid. <br />2. At the conclusion of each work shift all drums/containers will be placed in the designated <br />waste storage area. This area will be properly marked and secured. <br />3. Mechanical or powered drum handling -equipment will be used -to move drums/containers. <br />Manual handling of the drums leads to musculo -skeletal injuries and swill be avoided to the <br />extent possible. <br />If sampling of drums for waste characterization purposes is required, it will be accomplished in a manner <br />to minimize potential for skin contact. Handling of potentially contaminated soils and wastes presents the <br />` risk of contact with hazardous substances. In order to provide protection against skin contact with <br />contaminated materials, all' sample collection activities will be performed using Modified Level D <br />protective equipment ensembles, with relevant monitoring requirements and criteria for upgrade to Level <br />C as specified in Table 7-2.
