<br />General Safety Rules for Contractors
<br />GENERAL.SAFETY RULES FOR CONTRACTORS
<br />Introduction
<br />The rules and requirements contained in this
<br />attachment have been written for the guidance of
<br />Contractors who are performing work under contract
<br />with Earth Technology. This booklet prescribes
<br />general requirements. Additional specific rules may
<br />be necessary to ensure the safety of workers on a
<br />particular fob. The Contractor, working in
<br />collaboration with the Earth Technology -
<br />representative, will be expected to establish such
<br />additional rules and procedures as may be necessary
<br />to conduct a safe operation and comply with all Earth
<br />Technology, regulatory, and insurance requirements
<br />and those of our clients. Earth Technology health
<br />and safety professionals are available to assist.,
<br />The term Contractor, as used in this attachment, shall
<br />be understood to include any and all persons, sole
<br />groprietorships, partnerships, corporations, or other
<br />business ventures under contract, oral or written, to
<br />EARTH TECH.
<br />Contractor is responsible for informing -its
<br />subcontractors of these requirements, for directing
<br />and supervising work of subcontractors, and for
<br />assuring that its subcontractors adhere to the
<br />requirements herein. EARTH TECH may request
<br />Contractor to provide proof of- its subcontractor's
<br />adherence to all rules and regulations and will
<br />prohibit access to EARTH TECH property or job
<br />sites or our client's property for those Contractors not
<br />in compliance.
<br />In order to assist -Contractor in following these
<br />instructions, a EARTH TECH Representative will be
<br />assigned to the Contractor to act as EARTH TECH's
<br />agent in all matters relative to work activities' at
<br />EARTH TECH facilities orjob sites. Under no
<br />circumstances shall any work be started until the
<br />EARTH TECH Representative has been contacted, a
<br />Job orientation has been conducted by the EARTH
<br />TECH Representative, and all permits, insurance,
<br />EARTH TECH, client, and regulatory pre -job
<br />requirements met.
<br />The EARTH TECH Representative and the EARTH
<br />TECH Health and Safety professionals are authorized
<br />to stop any work which they may consider hazardous
<br />to EARTH TECH personnel or equipment or
<br />Contractor personnel. This authority may 'be
<br />delegated to appropriate individuals.
<br />General Safety Rules and Requirements
<br />Accident Reporting
<br />All accidents (personal andproperty damage) shall be
<br />reported orally to the EARTH TECH Representative
<br />as soon as emergency conditions no longer exist. A
<br />written report shall follow within 7 days after
<br />emergency conditions are resolved.
<br />Alcohol, Firearms; etc.
<br />Alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs or narcotics, or
<br />guns and ammunition are not permitted on EARTH
<br />TECH property or job sites. Personnel under the
<br />influence of alcohol or drugs shall not be allowed on
<br />EARTH TECH property or -job sites.
<br />Approvals
<br />:The Contractor shall be required to obtain pertinent
<br />work permits or authorization and approval from the
<br />EAR'T'H TECH Representative before:
<br />- Working on existing pipelines or equipment
<br />- Entering tanks or closed vessels
<br />,t
<br />- Entering any designated high -hazard areas
<br />Using torches, electrodes, electronic motors,
<br />forges, soldering irons, any open flames, or
<br />any device which could produce sparks or
<br />ignition source
<br />Closing walkways,' roads, or restricting
<br />traffic
<br />Starting excavations
<br />- Removing tanks from excavations
<br />Backfilling excavations
<br />- Using utilities such as steam, water,
<br />compressed air, or electricity
<br />Sandblasting, spray painting, or guniting
<br />- Storing flammable materials such as
<br />gasoline, oil, paints, oxygen cylinders, etc.
<br />Walking or working on roofs of buildings or
<br />equipment
<br />- Drilling, boring, preparing test pits, or using
<br />geoFhysical equipment or any other
<br />exploratory equipment requiring penetration
<br />of surfaces
<br />- Opera .ing cranes or similar equipment near
<br />overhead power lines or pipelines
<br />s.
<br />- Opening cutting through firewalls or berms
<br />- Fueling or repairing Contractor operating
<br />equipment. on EARTH TECH property or
<br />job sites:
<br />Security
<br />For -security reasons, entrance to and exit of EARTH
<br />TECH facilities and job sites is restricted: to those
<br />areas designated as the Contractor's work area.
