Work Plan for Subsurface Investigation for the Stockton Viaduct Bridge (Br. No. 29-0176R/L) Retrofit
We plan to drill four(4) borings to a depth of 250 feet below mud line from the drill ship RV Quin Delta
for subsurface investigation. The borings will be drilled using a mud rotary system and sampled using
punch core,Shelby tube samples, SPT and California Modified. Water for drilling will be taken from the
river. Water is between 20 and 40 feet deep in the drilling locations. Soil cuttings and drilling fluid will
be drummed and transported to the nearest Caltrans yard and disposed of by a subcontractor once it
has been characterized. Once boreholes have been drilled to the total depth of 250 feet, they will be
backfilled with bentonite chips in accordance to the agreement between Caltrans, San Joaquin County,
and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
I
2 fi
