Mechanical Hazards <br /> b. Fire/Explosion <br /> C. Electrical <br /> d. Noise <br /> e. Uneven Terrain/slips <br /> Personnel working most directly with site operations are most likely to <br /> encounter these hazards. However, all personnel on the site will have the <br /> possibility of encountering them at one time or another. <br /> 5.1.1 Mechanical Hazards <br /> Equipment operators must have experience operating the equipment which <br /> they are required to operate at the site and must be cognizant of the persons <br /> working around them. Equipment must be operated in compliance with all <br /> OSHA Construction Standards. All persons operating open cab heavy <br /> construction equipment must wear hearing protection. Persons working <br /> around equipment must be cognizant at all times of where the equipment is <br /> operating. Make eye contact with the operator before approaching the <br /> equipment in operation. <br /> 5.1.2 Fire/Explosion Hazard <br /> Fire - Since powered equipment will be used throughout the project, a fire <br /> hazard will exist. All powered equipment shall have available a fire <br /> extinguisher to control any fire which may occur while using such <br /> equipment. <br /> Explosion - Explosive atmospheres which may be present in the open <br /> excavation will be monitored frequently using a combustible gas indicator <br /> to recognize potentially explosive environments so that no explosion hazard <br /> exists. <br />
