Box 2009 • (1601 East Hazelton Avenue) • Stockton, California 95201 iFOR
(209) 468-3400
December 27, 1990
Deborah Harris I ; 1
Exxon Company, U.S.A. v U
P.O. Box 4415
Houston, Texas 77210-4415
RE: Exxon Station
574 W. Grant Line
Tracy, CA
On June 11, 1986, this office received an Underground Storage Tank
(UGST) Unauthorized Release (Leak) Contamination Site Report which
indicated a failed UGST precision test had occurred at the former
Mobil Service Station #10-NP4 at 2375 N. Tracy Blvd. , Tracy,
California. Subsequently, all UGSTs were removed and soil and
groundwater sampled. Analysis of these samples documented both
soil and groundwater contamination.
The Mobil Oil Corporation then began a site assessment in order to
determine the full extent of soil and groundwater contamination
associated with the facility. A number of borings and groundwater
monitoring wells have been completed both on-site and off-site but
zero lines have never been defined.
In a report prepared by Mobil ' s consultant, Alton Geoscience, Inc. ,
they stated, "Based on the hydrogeologic conditions in the area and
results of the field activities and laboratory analysis, there are
potentially three (3) hydrocarbon contaminant plumes in the
vicinity of the site that have co-mingled: one on-site on the
northeast corner of the former Mobil property; one adjacent to the
Exxon property; and one adjacent to the Chevron property. "
In order to fully define the extent of groundwater contamination,
this office is seeking the cooperation of the involved parties to
characterize each contamination plume. Please submit a Preliminary
Report (PR) for the Exxon Station at 574 W. Grant Line Road, Tracy,
California, to this office, by February 1, 1991.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
