XHIBIT y <br />SIMSMETAL AMERICA <br />f <br />Our facilities are among the most modern and productive in the world, and to ensure that we <br />maintain our efficiency and recycle in an environmentally responsible manner, we need your <br />help when preparing your loads. It is important that you have a clear understanding of which <br />materials are acceptable and those which are not. For environmental and safety reasons, please <br />be sure your scrap loads do not contain any of the following materials: <br />1) Combustible or explosive materials. <br />2) Paint or aerosol containers. <br />3) Gasoline, diesel, propane or other petroleum products or containers. <br />4) Oil cans, oil filters and unpunctured oil pans still on motor blocks. <br />5) Drums of any size without proper empty container certification. <br />6) Closed containers or cylinders. a <br />7) Cans which contained paint, water sealer, pesticides or other toxic chemicals. <br />8) Asbestos of any kind (such as pipe insulation, surfacing material).. <br />9) Wire rope or cable in lengths greater than 3 feet. <br />10) Air conditioning and refrigeration units containing chloroflurocarbons (CFC's <br />and HCFCs). <br />11) PCB containing materials such as capacitors, ballasts and transformers. <br />12) Automobile air bags containing sodium azide. <br />13) Lead containing materials, unless approved in advance (e.g. lead acid batteries). <br />14) Batteries which are cracked, broken, burned or have missing caps. <br />15) FIuorescent or mercury vapor lights and related fractures. <br />16) Radioactive ;materials or containers. <br />17) Any material containing hazardous or toxic substances, materials, or wastes. <br />18) Any material not prepared to comply with California Assembly Bill 847. <br />19) Free flowing fluids of any kind including water. <br />20) Dirt, debris, trash or waste of any kind. <br />21) Munitions scrap. <br />22) Automobiles must have all fluids drained and their gas tanks, batteries, battery <br />cables, tires, and air bags removed. <br />23) Appliances must have all electrical components (e.g. capacitors, mercury switches) <br />and compressors removed. We accept compressors only if drained of all fluids. <br />24) Wire rope, cyclone fencing, or any of the above, must not be placed inside cars. <br />We appreciate your business and your cooperation in keeping these materials out of your <br />recyclables. The above list is not inclusive. We accept intact properly capped lead -acid batteries <br />only at certain locations. Our representatives will be happy to answer any questions you may <br />have regarding this policy. We reserve the right to reject any load at your cost if this policy is <br />not followed.
