0 0 <br />Division: Stockton <br />Position Description: General Laborer <br />Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non -Exempt <br />Department: Ferrous Shred <br />Date Revised: 9/20/11 <br />Job Summary: <br />SIMS <br />METAL <br />MANAGEMENT <br />• <br />Perform general labor duties specifically in the appliance area of the Stockton yard. <br />Primary Responsibilities: <br />Disassemble and/or remove parts and Materials Requiring Special Handling (MRSH) from major <br />appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, microwaves, etc. Employee will also be <br />responsible for housekeeping in and around the appliance area and maintaining compliance with <br />accumulation and storage of hazardous wastes. <br />New Employees are given training regarding Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Wastes: 'Right to <br />Know", Battery Safety, and Identifying Potentially Hazardous Materials. This training is required to <br />be administered to all employees annually. <br />Qualifications: <br />To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each <br />essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the <br />knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made <br />to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. <br />• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three <br />months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of <br />education and experience. <br />• Forklift Certification <br />• Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen <br />• Must be able to comfortably wear all Personal Protective Equipment. (i.e. <br />Uniforms, Safety glasses, Steel Toed Shoes, Hard hat, etc.) <br />Core Competencies: <br />• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. <br />• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, <br />clients, and other employees of the organization. <br />Physical Demands: <br />The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met <br />by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. <br />Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to <br />perform the essential functions. <br />
