All UST systems must have UDC by December 31, 2003*. For inform <br />on the regulatory requirements for UDC design, construction, and monitoring please visit our website t <br />v.swrcb.ca.gov/cwphome/usV and click on "UST Regulations" or call your area inspector for a list of cc <br />tors, time is running out. See Below. <br />X <br />NEW UST REGULATIONS AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC COMMENT <br />The new training regulations have been rewritten incorporating the many public comments received. They <br />will be available for review at www.swrcb.ca.gov/ust/ by the time you receive this newsletter. Some of the in- <br />formation in these new regulations include the following: <br />► Require the owner to identify a "designated operator", a person responsible for the operation <br />and compliance of the underground storage tank facility, by 1/1/04 <br />► Require the owner to sign a statement that their facility is in compliance with all regulatory <br />requirements and submit it to the local agency. <br />► Require certification training for all designated operators* by 1/1/05 <br />► Require certification training for all UST installers by 1/1/05 <br />► Require on the job employee training by the designated operator with annual updates begi <br />ning 7/1/05 <br />♦ Require certification training for all UST service technicians by 7/1/05 <br />♦ Require certification training for all UST compliance inspectors by 9/1/05 <br />Please use this opportunity to review and comment on this new regulation packet . <br />Call (916) 341-5873 (or email bacons@swrcb.ca.gov ) Scott Bacon for more information. <br />'Check the International Code Council (ICC) website www.iccsafe.org/certification/professional.htm on August 1 for the Cer- <br />tified Designated Operator exam.
