3Interoffice 9sy,
Correspondence
to R.G. Walker - date June 10, 1985
Director of Mining and Environmental
Services/Charlotte from Stockton Plant Manager
cc: R.J. Johnston -
VP Western Operations/Long Beach subject EPA REGULATIONS
Underground Tanks
Ref: RGW/Plt Nis, 5/29/85
The Stockton Plant has applied for permits with the California Water Resources
Control Board for the three underground tanks listed below (copy of applications
attached):
Cathodic Active/
Tank No* Size Type Protection Contents Abandoned
1 210,000 gal Tar-coated None No.6 Bunker Oil Active
concrete
2 7,040 gal Tar-coated None No.6 Bunker Oil Active
concrete
3 7,040 gal Tar coated None No.6 Bunker Oil Active
concrete
Numbers recently assigned for identification purposes.
All three of the tanks listed above store fuel for our steam boilers. We have
been told by the local Water Resources representative that he believes we may
be able to qualify for a variance on these tanks due to the nature (viscosity
or lack of it) of the material being stored. He does not expect to have
regulations in his hands from the State, however, for another three months.
The following tanks have been registered by San Joaquin Packaging and DOPACO.
The question still remains, however, concerning who is responsible should
they vacate the premises.
San Joaquin Packaging
4 4,000 gal coated None Isopropyl Active
steel alcohol
DOPACO of California, Inc.
5,. 4,000 gal coated None Isopropyl Active
steel acetate
`6> 4,000 gal coated None Toluol Active
steel
7 1 ,500 gal coated None Normal- Active
steel propylacetate
8/ 1 ,000 gal coated None Isopropyl Active
steel alcohol
9 2,000 gal coated None Waste solvent Active
steel & Ink
10 2,000 gal coated None Waste solvent Active
steel & Ink
e /G Bond
Builddd ing
Products
w acvre
