UNDERGROUND TANKS
Ten underground storage tanks are present on the Gold Bond
• property, including two steel waste ink and solvent tanks, five
steel tanks for storage of isopropyl alcohol, toluol, isopropyl
acetate, and normal propylacetate, and three concrete tanks for
storage of bunker oil No. 6 . These tanks fall under the
jurisdiction of San Joaquin County, the Regional Board, and the
State Department of Health Services. The State's Underground
• Storage Tank Regulations are applicable to these tanks .
Gold Bond, Dopaco and San Joaquin Packaging have indicated that
they are planning to remove the seven steel storage tanks. Bids
have been requested and received from three firms for cleaning
and removal of tanks and soil testing. Evaluation of these bids
• is ongoing. The Regional Board and County Health will be advised
of the proposed contractor prior to award of the bid. The
Contractor will be responsible for procurement of all permits
required for closure of the tanks in question.
Gold Bond is exploring its options regarding continued operation
• of the bunker oil tanks .
•
•
•
20
