nEAR,THCON'
2.0 DESCRIPTION OF HAZARDOUS WASTE TANK SYSTEM
2.1 Facility Operations
The Site is a self-service auto dismantling facility where customers purchase car parts which they
remove themselves from a selection of salvaged cars. Facility operations include draining fluids
from new cars arriving on-Site(including gas, oil, and radiator fluid); mounting cars on stands in the
yard for customer access; crushing car bodies; and loading crushed cars onto trucks for off-Site
recycling. The facility includes a covered vehicle fluid drainage area and an outdoor concrete
paved and bermed gasoline fuel storage area. Gasoline is drained from salvaged cars inside the
covered Drain Building and is segregated into Waste Gasoline that is stored in drums or Recyclable
Gasoline that is stored in double-walled tanks. Diesel is also drained from salvaged cars and is
pumped through a diesel water separator into portable tanks for reuse at the facility. In addition, the
fresh diesel fuel is brought to the Site for vehicle use and is stored in a double-walled tank.
However, the Recyclable Gasoline tanks, portable Diesel tanks, and the Fresh Diesel tank are not
included as a part of the hazardous waste tank system and are addressed the Site's SPCC Plan
accordingly.
The Site encompasses approximately 26 acres. Of this, approximately 6.5 acres are used for such
operations as car crushing, core and parts storage, and vehicle preparation; 17 acres are used for
the customer salvage yard; and 2.5 acres are used for the customer parking lot.
A Site Plan is provided in Figure 2 and photographs of the Site are provided in Appendix A.
2.2 Tanks
The hazardous waste tank system at the Site includes the following:
• Four— 330 gallon, horizontal cylindrical cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) tanks used for
Used Oil (01 through 04)
• Four—220 gallon, horizontal cylindrical XLPE tanks used for Waste Antifreeze (A1 through
A4)
• One — 385 gallon, vertical cylindrical XLPE tank used for Used Oil (Customer Drop-off)
As mentioned above, the following tanks are not included in this assessment and are addressed
further in the Site's SPCC Plan:
• One - 500 gallon, horizontal double-walled steel/concrete tank for Fresh Diesel (Fresh
Hazardous Waste Tank Assessment Stockton,CA
Auto Parts Group—Pick-N-Pull 2 Project No.04.20160002
