PUBLIC PlEALTH SERVtES
,N
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY =? i
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION
Ernest M. Fujimoto, M. Reissig,
Thank you for your letter dated May 14, 1997, regarding the billing statement you received. I
apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Upon reviewing the statement I discovered that
you are correct that the statement had two identical dates, it should read December 24 and 25.
I also discovered that you were billed an incorrect amount. Unfortunately, you were not
billed for the overtime I worked, enclosed is a bill for the correct amount.
I responded to the incident both days precisely because the boat was not removed from the
water in a timely manner. I understand your belief that you should not be responsible for the
payment because you do not own the boat, however you do own the marina. You did let the
boat release fuel for two days into the water. You did cause contamination to the waterway
because your marina personnel did not have the boat removed from the water.
I also have additional information that the marina manager was notified that this boat was
about to sink several days prior to it actually sinking. This means your manager is
responsible for the boat sinking. That is why you are being charged for my response time.
Had this been avoided there would be no pollution in the waterway and no invoice to pay.
Should you have any questions, please call me at (209) 468-3451.
Sincerely,
L7 7
Kasey Foley
Lead Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
