These tanks are used to hold septage
from the dock pump out station. Nate Atkins stated that the pump out station is locked out to preven
the transfer of more waste to the tanks which contain fuel.
VIOLATIONS/OBSERVATIONS:
I observed two holding septic tanks which were full and contained fuel on top of the water layer.
According to Environmental Health Department records and Nate Atkins, the tanks are not attached
to leach lines and are holding tanks only.
Disposal of hazardous waste at an unauthorized point is a violation of California Health and Safety
Code section 25189.5.
CORRECTIVE ACTIONS/ORDER:
Immediately dispose of the septic tank and line contents as specified in Title 22 California Code of
Regulations. Rinse out the line between the pump out station and the tanks and also rinse out the
tanks to remove all fuel residue. Notify the Environmental Health Department at (209) 468-3420 with
the time of the cleanup to allow an inspector to witness the cleanup.
