Immediately locate a copy of all bills of <br /> lading or manifests for lead acid batteries for the last three years, maintain them on site, and submit copies to the <br /> EHD. <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> 301 CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Facility not maintained to minimize the release of a hazardous waste. <br /> At the time of inspection: <br /> -Floor under hazardous waste drums appeared to be wet and corroded. <br /> -Corroded trays under battery charging/filling areas <br /> -Seen throughout the warehouse-bottles of liquid and powdered laundry soap, bleach, dish soap actively leaking on the <br /> ground, on boxes, pallets and racking. Boxes and pallets of the same type of material were seen in the Salvage area <br /> waiting to be processed. <br /> Facilities shall be maintained and operated to minimize the possibility of a fire, explosion, or release of hazardous <br /> waste to air, soil, or surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. Immediately clean the <br /> affected areas and manage according to Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. Submit a statement and supporting <br /> documentation explaining how these wastes were managed and steps that will be taken in the future to prevent <br /> releases. <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> 403 CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Failed to keep hazardous waste containers closed except when adding or removing hazardous <br /> waste. <br /> 1-5 gallon (g)open bucket of oily absorbent that was later seen in a hazardous waste drum in the maintenance area <br /> was open <br /> 1-30-40g plastic garbage can full of saturated absorbent was open <br /> All hazardous waste containers shall be closed at all times except when adding or removing waste. Immediately <br /> close these containers and ensure all hazardous waste containers are closed when not adding or removing waste. <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> 405 CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Failed to manage incompatible wastes in containers properly. <br /> All waste aerosol cans in the salvage area are placed in 1-55g drum with no indication that they are compatible with <br /> one another. Incompatible wastes shall not be placed in the same container, or in an unwashed container that <br /> previously held an incompatible waste or material. A container holding a hazardous waste that is incompatible with <br /> any waste or other materials transferred or stored nearby in other containers, piles, open tanks, or surface <br /> impoundments shall be separated from the other materials or protected from them by means of a dike, berm, wall, or <br /> other device.
