5
November 21, 2011
Cardno ERI 2789C.R02 Former Mobil Service Station 99CAS, Stockton, California
protocol (Appendix B); a site-specific safety plan; and applicable regulatory guidelines. The work was
performed under the advisement of a professional geologist.
Pre -Field Activities
Prior to field activities, Cardno ERI obtained drilling permits from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department (Appendix C), notified Underground Service Alert, and contracted a private utility -locating company
to locate underground utilities at the site. From August 15 through 18, 2011, Cardno ERI observed Woodward
Drilling Company (Woodward) clear soil borings AS1 through ASS, AS6S, AS6D, SVE1, SVE2, SVE4, and
SVE5 using hand and vacuum equipment to check for utilities. During clearance activities, Cardno ERI
encountered a 4 -foot metal pipe in boring AS3 not marked by the utility -locating company. Cardno ERI backfilled
the location and installed well AS3 in the location for proposed well SVE3. Proposed well SVE3 was not
installed.
Well Installations
From August 23 through 31 and September 19 through 26, 2011, Cardno ERI observed Woodward install wells
AS1 through AS5, AS6S, AS6D, SVE1, SVE2, SVE4, and SVE5. Select soil samples were preserved for
laboratory analysis. Grab groundwater samples were collected from first -encountered groundwater in select
wells and were preserved for laboratory analysis.
The AS borings were completed as 1 -inch PVC wells with 60 mesh screen. The SVE wells were completed as
2 -inch PVC wells with 0.020 -inch slotted PVC screen. Groundwater was not observed during drilling in borings
AS6S, SVE1, SVE2, or SVE4; however, groundwater was first observed between 35 and 45 feet bgs in the
other borings. Well construction details are presented on the boring logs in Appendix D and in Table 2.
Laboratory Analyses
Cardno ERI submitted soil and groundwater samples for analysis to a state -certified laboratory. Laboratory
analytical reports and COC records are provided in Appendix E. Cumulative groundwater analytical data and
testing methods are summarized in Tables 1A through 1C. Cumulative soil sample analytical data and testing
methods are summarized in Tables 3A through 3C.
