Clean Up Procedures <br /> A.The following equipment,materials and supplies are available at the facility to expeditiously control, contain and remove <br /> spilled material: <br /> Emergency Equipment Description <br /> There is a safety equipment and clean-up locker located in the <br /> area directly outside the QC office. <br /> This locker contains the following: <br /> 1 Pail with wringer 3 Sets vinyl protective suits <br /> 1 or 2 mops 3 Pairs rubber boots <br /> 2 Pairs of goggles 1 Container of absorbent <br /> 1 Roll of hazard tape 2 Pairs of rubber gloves <br /> 1 Plastic shovel <br /> There is a spill control cabinet located near the receiving dock in the warehouse. <br /> Tins cabinet contains the following items: <br /> 1 Roll of hazard tape 6 pair of rubber boots <br /> 1 bag of absorbent 1 box of nitrile gloves <br /> 3 pair of goggles 6 absorbent pillows <br /> 1 drain protection mat 1 NAERG book <br /> 1 Flazmat load&segregation chart 1 Hazmat labeling chart <br /> 1 Hammat placarding chart <br /> B.Follow the following guidelines in case of a spill: <br /> 1. Evacuate personnel from the area. <br /> 2. Call a manager,supervisor,or lead to request EPT assistance <br /> (an EPT member will dial 911 if outside help is needed). <br /> C.EPT Response: <br /> 1. Secure the area affected by closing doors or cordon off the area. <br /> 2. Put on all necessary protective equipment needed to go into the affected area, (gloves,boots,etc.). <br /> 3. Put on the proper type of respirator if required. (Entering a room containing an unknown hazard with the wrong <br /> cartridge type respirator may be the last thing you do!) <br /> 4. Identify the nature of the chemical spilled(acid,lyase,organic solvent,etc.). <br /> 5. Determine if spill can be controlled or contained.At this point,the determination should be made if the spill is of a <br /> size or nature which would indicate calling in outside agencies.The fire department being the first to be called <br /> Also an assessment should be made regarding the need to evacuate the entire building. <br /> D.If a spill is small and confinable: <br /> I. Obtain and use the proper equipment to control the spill.The primary intent being to prevent the release of the <br /> spilled chemical into the environment and to prevent personal injury. <br /> 2. Tum off any equipment if there is any risk of the spilled chemical getting into the it and out to the sewer. <br /> 3. Neutralize the spill if needed <br /> 4.
