Qualex, Inc. <br /> Health, Safety and Environment <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: April 23, 2004 <br /> FROM: Dick Woolley <br /> SUBJECT: Manteca, CA Facility Closure -Waste Management Scope <br /> As the process infrastructure and chemical product are removed from the Manteca facility, several waste streams will be generated. <br /> The following chart identifies the anticipated waste products and management plans anticipated: <br /> Waste Product Disposal Plan <br /> Lab Pack Items designated as lab pack will be gathered and characterized at the end of the closure <br /> process for proper disposal by Phillips Environmental. <br /> Working strength mixed Discharge to sanitary sewer in compliance with existing industrial wastewater discharge <br /> photographic solutions (without permit. <br /> silver) <br /> Working strength mixed Send to silver recovery equipment, using special operating procedures to compensate for <br /> photographic solutions (with silver) elevated silver levels in processor tanks. Discharge treated solutions to sanitary sewer in J� <br /> compliance with discharge permit. <br /> Unmixed photographic chemical Transfer any usable chemical products to other Qualex locations by motor freight carrier. <br /> products Identify all outdated or unusable products and characterize for lab pack disposal. <br /> Process equipment After working strength solutions have been removed (per above) - fill with water, operate <br /> circulation system (if any), drain to sanitary sewer a total of three times.
