Color Spot Nurseries—Inspection Date 1/4/11
5400 E. Harney Ln, Lodi, CA 95240
##7 a) Lou Ball and I reviewed our metal inventory and metal purchases and have determined our
purchases consist of mild steel. On occasion we use some aluminum stock, but it is rare and usually
purchased to the size we need.
We have placed a clearly labeled container next to the cutting, grinding, and drilling station for the small
metal fines and shavings to be placed into_ it has been labeled with a Hazardous Waste label and dated
with the date we began accumulating it. Before it reaches a year in age or when there is a considerable
amount of shavings inside it we will dispose of it by taking it into the county disposal center, making sure
to document it and save the supporting paperwok
in the meantime, we have trained our shop personnel in the proper cleanup and disposal of the metal
shavings. They have alreariy hppn using the proper PyP and rp.cpirarnry prntertinn wham cutting or
grinding any metal: Safety glasses or faceshield and a dust mask.
I have included pictures showing the disposal container and its placement in the metal work area
(attachments 1 & 2).
V b) concerning the painted area outside the Northeast corner of the maintenance shop, we contacted
Kelley Moore, who we purchased the paint from, to obtain information on the properties and proper
disposal of any paint or painted surfaces. They provided us with contact information to the
manufacturing department who advised us on the proper disposal of the paint gravel.
According to our contact, Janet Bailey if we need to dispose of any painted surfaces "We should dispose
of them the same way you would dispose of any surface (ie: furniture, wood, etc) painted with Kel-
Guard Enamel, it does not contain lead or any other chemical which would need special consideration
when disposing of the dry paint".
Lou and I determined that since the paint on the gravel is dry we would leave it outside the shop for
now, but there will be no more painting allowed there or in any area that allows paint to come in
contact with unprotected ground or other surfaces.
have enclosed the Product Information Sheet and the MSDS sheet for the paint (attachment 3)
detailing waste disposal methods.
Zo 3OV6 iao_l0_103 9SS889EGOZ ET*.LT TT0Z/L9/Z0
