6.0 EMERGENCY RAPONSE TEAM ERT <br /> The purpose of this section is to provide policy and procedures for the organization <br /> of the ERT. Information includes required training, physicals, conduct, <br /> compensation, and organization. <br /> 6.1 The ERT consists of full-time employees who by job description or voluntary <br /> action obtain the required training and physicals. <br /> 6.2 ERT training must comply with the requirements of California General Industry <br /> Safety Orders (GISO) Title 8, section 5192, "Hazardous Waste Operations <br /> and Emergency Response". <br /> 6.2.1 New ERT members shall receive a minimum of 24 hours of emergency <br /> response training plus an additional 8 hours of First Aid/CPR training. <br /> 6.2.2 All ERT members trained in accordance with Section 7.3.1 shall receive a <br /> minimum 8 hours in refresher emergency training each year. <br /> 6.2.3 Training content must include, but is not limited to: <br /> 6.3.3.1 Properties of Hazardous Materials <br /> 6.3.3.2 First Aid & CPR <br /> 6.3.3.3 Respiratory protection <br /> 6.3.3.4 Personal protective equipment <br /> 6.3.3.5 Hazardous materials response. <br /> 6.3.3.6 Incident command system <br /> 6.3.3.7 Hands-on emergency drill <br /> 6.2.4 Training shall be provided for by the Safety Coordinator. Trainers who <br /> teach the above subjects shall have satisfactorily completed a recognized <br /> training course for teaching the subjects or they shall have academic <br /> credentials and instructional experience necessary to demonstrate <br /> competent instructional skills and a good command of the subject matter. <br /> 6.3 ERT physicals must comply with the requirement of GISO Title 8 Article 5192 <br /> "Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response". <br /> 6.3.1 Prior to activation as an ERT, each employee must pass a medical <br /> examination. <br /> 6.3.2 At least every twelve months thereafter a follow-up medical examination <br /> shall be performed. <br /> 6.3.3 A medical examination must be performed upon employee termination if <br /> the employee has not had an examination within the last six months. <br /> ERT Contingency Plan rage;4 06/23/09 <br />
