1 <br /> ARCADIS SOP: Investigation-Derived Waste Handling and Storage 8 ' <br /> Rev.#:2 1 Rev Date: March 6,2009 <br /> Once more than 55 gallons of hazardous waste accumulates in SAA, the generator <br /> has three days to move this waste into storage. ' <br /> Storage recommendations for hazardous waste include: <br /> • Ignitable Hazardous wastes must be>50 feet from the property line per 40 , <br /> CFR§265.176(LQG generators only). <br /> • Hazardous waste must be stored on a concrete slab(asphalt is acceptable if ' <br /> there are no free liquids in the waste)per 40 CFR§265.176. <br /> • Drainage must be directed away from the accumulation area. ' <br /> • Area must be properly vented. <br /> • Area must be secure. ' <br /> Drum/Container Labeling ' <br /> Drums will be labeled on both the side and lid of the drum using a permanent marking <br /> pen. Old drum labels must be removed to the extent possible,descriptions crossed out ' <br /> should any information remain, and new labels affixed on top of the old labels. Other <br /> containers used to store various types of waste(polyethylene tanks, roll-off boxes, <br /> end-dump trailers, etc.)will be labeled with an appropriate"Waste Container"or ' <br /> "Testing in Progress" label,pending characterization.
