LEEDSHILL-HERKENHOFF, INC.
303 Second Street,Suite 880 North
San Francisco, California 94107
4t51243.9980
January 16, 1990 SUBJECT TO ATTORNEY/CLIENT PRIVILEGE
CONTAINS ATTORNEY WORK PRODUCT
Ms. Jeanne M. Zolezzi
Neumiller and Beardslee
P.O. Drawer 20
Stockton, CA 95201-9978
Subject: Conrady, M ajorie/Foreclosure (1235 Alpine Road)
File No. 15380-13889
Dear Ms. Zolezzi:
As discussed at our January 8, 1990 meeting, LEEDSHILL-HERKENHOFF, INC. (LH) is
pleased to re-submit our cost proposal to perform a preliminary site assessment of the
former gasoline service station property located at 1235 East Alpine Road in Stockton.
The results of this investigation will provide information regarding the presence or absence
of gasoline constituents in the groundwater, and an indication of the vertical and horizontal
extent of suspected soil contamination. This letter outlines the tasks that will be
performed and the estimated costs associated with the work. The following tasks will be
performed:
Phase I -- BASIC SERVICES
Task 1: Site Investigation
LH will submit a permit application with the Public Health Services San Joaquin
County to conduct the work described below. It is proposed to drill two 30-foot
boreholes (60 feet total) in ..the area of the suspected leaking 10,000-gallon
unleaded gasoline tank, to determine vertical and provide an indication of the
horizontal extent of suspected soil contamination. Soil samples will be collected
at 5-foot intervals from the boreholes and sent to an approved laboratory for
testing.
Depth to groundwater in this area is estimated to be approximately 45 feet. LH
recommends that three small diameter monitoring wells be installed to establish the
direction and gradient of groundwater flow at the site and to establish whether or
not groundwater contamination exists. Each well will be approximately 60 feet
deep. After development of the well, a representative groundwater sample will be
collected for laboratory testing.
Soil cuttings and water generated during drilling and well development will be
containerized on site, awaiting ultimate disposal by the property owner.
SAN FRANCISCO • SAN DIEGO • DENVER 9 ALBUQUERQUE • SANTA FE • PHOENIX
