OSII? TD
An Regional Transit 0151wlct
The generators who are required to comply with the SB 14 regulations as
summarized above are mandated to submit a copy of each document to the
California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DISC), Office of Pollution
Prevention and Technology Development (OPPTD) on or before September 1,
2003. In addition, the SJRTD has been requested to send a copy of the above
documents to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
(SJCEHD).
This PR addresses only the baseline year 2002 as the starting point for the
SJRTD's on site/off site management, and waste reduction efforts. Hence this
PR does not compare the hazardous waste generated and their management
approach during the calendar year 2002 with any other years due to lack of
adequate data and information. Instead this PR will put forth the regulatory
requirements and the SJRTD's means and methods for tracking its source
reduction and WM efforts.
3. Facility Operations, Activities, and Multi-media P2 Approach
The SJRTD is a 24 hours around the clock facility, involved in a multitude of
maintenance activities involving the following:
• Daily check, cleaning, washing and repair of bus fleet, coaches, trolleys,
and other motor vehicles.
• Periodic preventive maintenance (PM) of buses, coaches, trolleys, and
other motor vehicles.
• Minor and major repair and overhaul of buses and vehicle engines.
• Storage of raw/unused hazardous materials, soaps and cleaning solutions
Storage of unused/raw automotive fluids, oils and other automotive related
parts and materials.
49
