0 0
. • It gives the attendees a first hand appreciation and understanding of the
relationship of hazardous materials with hazardous wastes and how they are
interrelated yet covered by two separate laws and supporting regulations.
• In addition to the above, this training workshop had hands on instruction of the
SJRTD's actual shop settings where hazardous wastes are generated,
accumulated, and managed. Attendees were taken on tours of the shops and
given practical instruction in how to:
Recognize all types of hazardous wastes (including universal wastes)
generated at the SJRTD facilities.
Properly label, date and complete a hazardous waste label.
- Properly manage a container for accumulating hazardous waste.
r Properly manage the accumulation time period (LQG: 90 days, SQG: 180
days, etc) that hazardous waste is required to be sent off site for proper
recycling and disposal. Satellite accumulation of hazardous waste.
Proper record keeping (manifests. LDR, etc)
Contingency planning, preparedness, and prevention
y Waste minimization: source reduction and evaluation, and SB14
requirements and their practical implications
Other hazardous waste management requirements
In addition, to the above, the attendees were given hands on instruction in
recognizing best management practices (BMPs) and pollution prevention (P2) measures
that are associated with the storm water management program yet, provide an
overarching coverage over other environmental compliance areas.
Overall, we believe that the design of the foregoing workshops represent an
effective, innovative, and pioneering way to create a learning experience that is
interactive and for all attendees.
In closing, on behalf of the SJRTD, TRE appreciates your continuing spirit of
partnering and guidance. If you have any other questions and or comments, do not
hesitate to contact me at 209-501-7048.
Enclosure
Si erely,
Jay R.
