FIELD REPORT
1993 THIRD QUARTER WATER SAMPLING
FORMER MAJOR MART FACILITY
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
' Introduction
' On August 10 and 11, 1993, ROY F WESTON, INC (WESTON) performed groundwater
sampling of six monitor wells at the former Mayor Mart site located at 1235 East Alpine Avenue
in Stockton, California The field work was part of a quarterly program conducted to monitor
' groundwater quality in the vicinity of former underground storage tanks.
Water Level Measurement and Monitor Well Purge
' Upon arrival at the site, measurements of standing water levels and total well depth were taken
in all wells using an electronic well sounding device Calculations to determine the groundwater
' levels relative to Mean Sea Level (MSL) were made and the results are presented in Table A-1
TABLE A-1
' Water Level Elevations
August 10, 1993
Well Location Depth to Water (feet) Top of Casing (feet)' Water Elevation {feet)'
MW-1 76 44 2093 -55 51
IMW-2 7652 2095 -5557
MW-3 76 11 2049 -5562
MW-4 r 75 40 1946 -5594
MW-5 yS 75 46 1943 -5603
MW-6 73 83 1822 -5561
1 Top of Casing Elevations were established by the July 2, 1993 resurvey of the well heads and are relative to
MSL
2 Water elevations are relative to MSL
IThe water level and total depth measurements were used to calculate the required purge volumes
for the monitor wells Additionally, prior to purging and sampling, a clear teflon bailer was
lowered ,lust to the top of the water column in each of the wells and retrieved for visual
inspection to evaluate the presence of floating product on groundwater There was no indication
Of floating product in any of the wells The clear teflon bailer was then used to purge the well
Of approximately three casing volumes Monitor well purge data is summarized in Table A-2
I9rKMPrr5WREC3QTR WF A - 1 011t2m
