QUARTERLY MONITORING REPORT
SECOND QUARTER 1993
' MAJOR MART PROJECT
' 1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report summarizes the results of quarterly groundwater monitoring and the status of
remedial activities for the Mayor Mart site located at 1235 East Alpine Avenue in Stockton,
California (Figure 1 and Figure 2) The report is organized to address the reporting
requirements discussed in the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division (EHD) letter
dated November 12, 1991 to American Real Estate Group (AREG) To respond to EHD's
' requirements, this report is presented in two segments The first segment reports on the results
of the second quarter 1993 groundwater monitoring program, while the second segment discusses
the status of the overall remedial program Where project historical data is of importance to the
' current status of the project, it is referenced Should users of this report be interested in the
overall history of the project, reference should be made to the WESTON Third Quarter 1992
Report dated November 13, 1992 which contained a historical summary of work completed up
' to that time
2.0 GROUNDWATER MONITORING PROGRAM
This section presents a summary of the field activities and analytical results of the second quarter
1993 monitoring event along with a historical compilation of analytical data from prior
monitoring events The majority of the field work was completed on June 17 and 18, 1993
Monitor well MW-2 was not sampled during this time period because the well was found to be
partially filled with gravel from the site restoration phase of the remedial excavation work ;
' completed last quarter Using an air-lift technique, WESTON removed the gravel material from
MW-2 on June 28, 1993 and completed the sampling on July 2, 1993
' 2.1 Field Activity Summary
The groundwater monitoring program consists of two aspects 1) field measurement of
' groundwater elevation, temperature, pH and electrical conductivity, and 2) collection of
groundwater samples for laboratory analysis All six groundwater monitoring wells at the site
were inspected for the presence of floating product and measured for groundwater levels
Samples were collected using the procedures detailed in the Field Report presented in
Appendix A A sample was also taken of the contents of the holding tank used onsite to collect
purge and decontamination rinsewaters from multiple sampling events for eventual disposal All
' samples were submitted to WESTON's Stockton, California analytical laboratory for analysis
of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G) by EPA Method 8015-M and BTEX
(benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene) by EPA Method 8020 In past monitoring events,
' the monitor well samples have also been analyzed for total lead and fecal coliform However, /
Per discussions with EHD, analysis of these parameters is now only required once annually f/
Hence, the monitor well samples will be analyzed for total lead and fecal coliform only during
the third quarter 1993 monitoring event
1 09/0&93' srt,\aprs\aREcaQ'ra WP
